Goal
Step-by-step guide
- Start in Mountain Pose with feet hip-width apart and hands at your sides.
- Inhale, raise your arms overhead, and lengthen your spine.
- Exhale, hinge at the hips, and fold forward with soft knees.
- Inhale, lift halfway with a long back and hands on shins.
- Exhale, place palms down and step to Plank.
- Lower to knees-chest-chin or controlled Chaturanga.
- Inhale to Cobra or Upward Facing Dog.
- Exhale to Downward Facing Dog for 3 to 5 deep breaths.
- Step forward, inhale halfway lift, exhale fold.
- Inhale rise to standing with arms overhead, exhale hands to heart.
Breathing cues
- Inhale for upward/lengthening motions.
- Exhale for folds, plank transitions, and downward dog.
Common mistakes
- Rounding the lower back in folds.
- Collapsing shoulders near the ears in plank.
