Sun Salutation A

A dynamic full-body warm-up flow to build mobility, circulation, and breath control.

Goal

Warm up the whole body while coordinating movement and breath.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Start in Mountain Pose with feet hip-width apart and hands at your sides.
  2. Inhale, raise your arms overhead, and lengthen your spine.
  3. Exhale, hinge at the hips, and fold forward with soft knees.
  4. Inhale, lift halfway with a long back and hands on shins.
  5. Exhale, place palms down and step to Plank.
  6. Lower to knees-chest-chin or controlled Chaturanga.
  7. Inhale to Cobra or Upward Facing Dog.
  8. Exhale to Downward Facing Dog for 3 to 5 deep breaths.
  9. Step forward, inhale halfway lift, exhale fold.
  10. Inhale rise to standing with arms overhead, exhale hands to heart.
